Happy Easter to you who observe…..

Indy and Lucy

Our Dad’s birthday was yesterday.  We got him a red baseball hat with a Scottie on it and some Duncan Dogs which are black licorice Scotties we buy from our friend Lori’s shop, Reminisce.

Duncan Dogs

As their Easter celebration, they went on a train ride with the cousins through the Boston Mountains of Arkansas.  No dogs allowed. *sniff*

What Does the Fox Say?

Tags

We live on a hill so our yard is elevated from the house next to it.  That house has been empty for about 10 years.  We call its back yard the nature preserve and over the years it has provided us with much entertainment.  Yesterday was no exception.  Mom’s treadmill area overlooks our back yard and a portion of the nature preserve.  While exercising, she looked over and thought she saw a big orange cat laying in the sun.  Then, upon closer inspection(binoculars), it was a fox.  He stayed most of the morning before moving to more concealed area.  It was pretty cool.

We didn’t get a picture of the fox but we did of me picking up pine cones downed by the storm.  Bunny Alert. ~ Lucy

Sneak Peek

We had one big storm last night.  It interrupted SURVIVOR…dish down.  The wind was blowing; rain was so fierce that you could not see; lightening lit up the sky and then there was….you guessed it: THUNDER.  At the first clap which was directly over our head, I ran straight for Mom’s lap and she held me tight.  I panted and shook a little but I’m not as nervous as some pups.  I don’t like it though.Lucy

Big front “blew” through and dropped the temps 20 degrees from yesterday.  Anyway, Mom has been cleaning out her closet and has Dad building some roll out shelving.  Our new chair was delivered; I overheard Mom say something about Scottie proof fabric.  What else?  Hmmm. How do you like my Easter dress. ~ Lucy

Easter’s On Its Way

We received a lovely snack and bunnies in the mail from Bonnie, Clyde and their peeps in Roosendaal, Netherlands.  Thank you again for thinking of us.  We always love Bonnie and Clyde’s Easter card.

Week In Review

The week began with St. Paddy Day and the anniversary of our one year as bloggers, March 17, 2015 being our first one.  We can celebrate for two reasons from now on.

St. Paddy Greetings

It has been  a beautiful spring week.  We guess that is due to our mild winter.  Here are the beauties of Mother Nature in our yard and neighborhood this week.

Indy and Lucy's Hawthorn tree

This is a hawthorne tree.  Ours has gorgeous deep pink flowers.   The best thing though is songbirds love it for its bright -colored berries in the fall and winter.

Forsythia

The forsythia is probably Mom’s favorite.  It’s a happy bush, she says.  Anyway, everything is beautiful. ~ Indy and Lucy

Blue Skies

Last week’s rain encouraged the flowering of more ornamental trees like the redbud which happens to be one of Oklahoma’s state symbols, chosen as the state tree in 1937.  It grows well in Oklahoma gardens and parks.  This one is across the street from our house.Redbud

The warm temps allowed us to play some fetch and run around our yard a lot.

Light winds caused to petals of the Bradford pear tree to fall like snow.
