Visiting Door County in May allows us to have two springs, one in Oklahoma and another in Wisconsin. It’s early spring when we arrive for the rally and flowers are just beginning to bloom although it is still quite cool. You’ll notice in all the pictures we have on jackets most of the time.
We always take a few days to sight see while we are here. This is Whitefish Dunes State Park. Door County has five state parks, 19 county parks, local parks as well as nature preserves. The whole peninsula abounds with the beauty of nature and breath-taking views.
You might want to take a ride in a fireboat.
or you could tour a lighthouse.
Maybe a lunch on Kangaroo Lake?
Of course, the real reason we are in Door County is to attend the rally and raise money to help Scotties through research and rescue. But we might as well have some more fun while we are here.
Another bonus is meeting fantastic Scottie people like Larry and Mary Lauber, Gordon and Gillis,
and Jake–Christopher and Natalie Johnson.
The ladies that belong to this float work tirelessly rescuing and re-homing Scottish Terriers. Hats off to the St. Louis Scottish Terrier Rescue.
David with Allison Rainboth. We meet new friends every year.
So all you Scots out there, be sure to put the Door County Scottie Rally on your bucket list; come see us and The Dogfather (our Dad) every third weekend in May. ~ Indy and Lucy
