It’s been a while since we have played with apps.  Mom saw a new one the other day called TinType by Hipstamatic.  It is a filtering tool that ages photos.  It reminded Mom of going to Six Flags over Texas with her cousins long ago, visiting a photo booth where you put on old clothes and your pictures were printed on tin.  Good times!

Mom was not too impressed although it was fun to experiment.  She liked the ones of Dad at a Civil War Reenactment best.

Super simple to use though.  Just select the picture and the app does the rest of the work or utilize the editing tool.  You can send your final photo straight to Instagram or save to your camera roll.

It is probably best for portraits.  You notice that the only focused area is in the middle of each picture and the rest is faded. Mom said three stars. ~ Indy and Lucy

Photo Lab has a bunch of new Christmas frames.

We really like this one with the snow globe.

You can remove the #photolab  in settings.

There are even video frames.  Mom can’t get them to work on here but FB was no problem.

 Prisma, today’s app, is an excellent, easy to use photo editor and special effect app.  It has loads of styles and textures with funny names like #GettUrban, Mononoke, Mondrian and Toyoko.

Contemporary or Classic

Just select photo and filter and the app does the rest.  You can even disable the water mark.  All shades of color can be applied.

Of course, not every filter works on each photo and our little black Scottie faces do present a challenge.  However, it is fun to experiment and sometimes the outcome is marvelous.

Today’s post is brought to you by PhotoPs.  It is an easy to use app that has all kinds of effects: stickers, text, adjustments in color and size, sharpen, blur, and even whiten your teeth.  You can easily import and export from all the social networks: FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc.  The con?  It has way too many ads.

PIP Camera is described as a partner for selfies.  It has many effects for pictures not only self snapshots; you know those are difficult for us because of the thumb thing. Here is picture one: a simple framed shot.

We were not too impressed until Mom discovered that both the main pic and the background can be changed.

Now we’re barking.

There are a lot of different designs; we are just using the Classic mode of the app.

PhotoToaster, today’s app, has been on Mom’s phone for ages.  She doesn’t use filters often (like never) so had never explored it until the other day.  PhotoToaster has high ratings by the app community and claims to be the top photo editor for the IPhone and Ipad.  The best thing about it: everything is included.  There are no In-App purchases.  All you do is select a picture and start applying filters.  The changes can be subtle or dramatic.  Let’s begin with our original picture.

This picture was taken around 11 am but with a simple filter it can be dusk.  Notice the change?

See, you get an entirely different feeling.  Of course, within that single filter selection you can make all kinds of adjustments as to exposure and intensity, etc. but ‘nobody’s got time for dat.’ BOL.  Check out this one called Pastel.

Whoa, we might like that better than the original.  Some others are named: Energetic, Vivid, Earthy, Road House, Vanity Fair, all light variations.  This is a nice B&W called Silverlight.

Backlit is a neat one too. Might be our new fave. 🙂

We are giving this app a 4 Paws Up for adjusting the basics.  PhotoToaster offers super simple easy edits using the pre-fab settings or options for more complicated ones.  Love it. ~ Indy and Lucy

Oops…Mom didn’t erase at the top of the barn but the photo lends itself well to this sort of application.  Mom says Scotties are a bit harder because of our color so something around us needs to be highlighted.  Enjoy ~ Indy and Lucy

It’s Instagood.  Instagood is an app where you basically select a shape and then find your photo match.  The shapes are varied: collages, states, countries, letters and numbers, nature, zodiac, etc.  We are spotlighting a vacation so we selected Wisconsin since we just visited there in May.

This might be our favorite one: Anderson Dock.  Although we really like this one of Peninsula park.
