Mom had to visit MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX for her August check up. Our visit was a week before the arrival of Hurricane Harvey.

We overnighted in Dallas on the way down. Dad’s foot was hurting so we just had dinner and went to Three Dog Bakery for some treats.

Upon arrival in Houston, we had dinner with friends: Sus, Leah and Barbara (Rick and Dad not pictured). Tests were early the next am. Those are always so draining that Mom has to come back and nap. I assisted.

That evening we met Leah’s new baby: DeeDee. She’s super cute.

Waiting for results the next day, Mom sees this. Texas has style now.

The scans were good and we started home.

We enjoyed the time our friends spent with us in Oklahoma. I got petted a lot by Mark.

We then went to Dallas to see them off : Mark and Wendy to Australia and Lesley and Bill to Pennsylvania. First, there were some more good times to be had. We met DD and Diane at Pappadeaux for dinner..this is Mom and DD.

Mia Dia from Scratch turned out to be a fave too.

Vacations come to an end but we already have plans in place for next year.

Here is the picture that Mom could not post the other night. It’s Barbara, Mom and Leah. On Wednesday morning, Mom went to see the radiation oncologist, Dr. Komaki, about her test results. All were good; it has now been 6 years and 9 months. Mom had her next appointment changed to February so we can go from Feb.to Feb. and hopefully Houston will not be so miserably hot and humid during the winter. We helped Dad load the car and when Mom called us to pick her up, we were off for Dallas.

So long Houston.

Hello Dallas!

Mom and Dad went for a quick bite to eat and then we all curled up to watch Big Brother and off to sleep.

We got an early start this am and soon crossed the Red River, the dividing line between Texas and Oklahoma.

We are glad to be home. Thanks again for your kind words of support for our Mom. We appreciate it. ~ Indy and Lucy

After spending the night in Dallas, we got ready for Houston.

We took our morning constitutional and then we were on our way. When we arrived, Barbara, Leah, and Steve came to our hotel bringing us toys and treats, for Mom too.

Then they all went to dinner at Pappadeaux. Mom has some more pic but WordPress is not photo friendly this evening. Mom had her CT scan early this morning(it was dark when we went to the hospital) and has been sleeping most of the afternoon. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. ~ Indy and Lucy

Mom has been getting things ready for a short trip.

We are loaded up and ready to ride. Brother looking goofy, of course.

The weather is great and we arrived in Dallas quickly. We took a quick nap before DD and Diane came over to go to dinner with Mom and Dad.

Dealey Plaza

Road trip

While we were in Texas, we visited Dealey Plaza, the location of the assassination of President John F Kennedy on November 22, 1963.

Here is a map of the motorcade’s route.

This is Dad and our friend, Wendy Appleby, at the top of the plaza. The motorcade would have passed by us on its way to turn onto Elm Street, location of bullets fired.

This is Mom and Dad with the ‘grassy knoll’ in the background.

Mom and Dad went in the museum, the alleged site of the gunman on the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository . Mom said looking at the plaza from above gave a whole new prospective than on ground level. We sat by the fountains with Mark and Wendy. No Dogs Allowed in the museum.

By the way, we look a long look at that picket fence too.

We love to visit Duff and his pawrents, DD and Diane Lewis.

He has such a great yard. See my tail (Indy). Squirrel hunting.

Our friends, Frankie and Billy ( Sus Peterson’s boys), were also intrigued by the planter. Rumors were that a rodent of sorts lived there.

Sister would not give the fetch game up so she had time out on Dad’s lap. Mom said that no balls could be thrown because of last year’s incident. So being the yard helper that she is, she managed to find a stick or two.
