A retablo, in Mexican folk art, is a devotional painting usually honoring a patron saint. Mom saw one of St. Francis and Scotties in an auction last week. Gathering information, she found it was not only sold in gallery by the artist but also through her favorite pet place in Santa Fe, Teca Tu. It was destined for our home.
After ordering, the artist, David Ross, contacted Mom and wanted to know about us, our personalities, likes and dislikes…that sort of thing.
He also does other prized animal art.
The retablo has since arrived and it is gorgeous.
Mom loved the message on the back too.
It is indeed a treasure.
It is approximately 8×10 which is the perfect size for the two of us.
The detail is amazing.
Mom thanks the Texas Scottie Rescue for bringing this to her attention. Mom says it captures two of her loves: Santa Fe and us. Mom, geeez..~ Indy and Lucy
