This is Mom’s new rain app called Rain Aware. She loves it. She says things like: “Ok, Dad, you can go feed the horses. The rain will stop at 1:32.” or “No kids, it will be raining for the next three hours.”
She was not kidding about the rain. It rained non stop Tuesday, almost 6 inches by Wednesday morning. It was raining when we went to bed and raining when we got up so this is what we did.
Love ya. ~ Indy and Lucy

My new orange ball is so cool. You can put treats in it as well as fetch it. Mom says I do not need any encouragement.
I like nothing better.
Sometimes Mom has to put the ball up because she said: “Lucy, you just don’t know when to stop.”
Be sure to hydrate in this summer weather. Heat index in Oklahoma will be up to 103 this afternoon. You can rest assured I won’t be out there. Our waterbowl on the porch is always fresh and clean though just in case we have to check our mail. Brother and I are not very neat drinkers.
Have fun, keep cool, and drink lots of water wherever you are; that goes for your peeps too. Love ya. ~ Lucy

Shoe tags used by runners everywhere are motivational scripts for your feet.
Now they have become the new foot accessory. If you can lace it, you can tag it. Tags can be customized with any quote, name, date, or medical alert. The possibilities are endless. Etsy is a great source for tags but any charm in your jewelry box can easily be adapted for shoe bling.
These are Mom’s walking shoes. Yes, they are supposed to be laced that way. The tags with our names she bought from an Etsy shop. The Scottie charms are OUR dog tags. Have some fun with your feet. ~ Indy and Lucy

It is with sad hearts that we had to say goodbye to our buddy, Traveler. He has not been well since Christmas. Additionally, he was quite old for a parakeet …10 years. He was a rescue bird. Mom found him after a summer storm much like the one we had this weekend. She was out for a walk when she saw him in the street; he flew to a low hanging branch as she approached. Unfortunately, his view was blocked by a pickup and he did not see the kitty beneath the tree. Flying to escape the kitty he hit the mirror of the pickup; fell at Mom’s feet and the rest is history. Mom brought him home and named him Traveler after Robert E Lee’s favorite horse. First Scottie, Sophie was jealous of Traveler. When Mom changed the paper in his cage, she would go to another room and not come out till Mom was finished. We liked him. We only rushed his cage a couple of times when we were pups.
Here is Traveler during better times. He was very pretty. Actually he was a she because one time he laid an egg but we have always called him he. Mom put a clock by his cage that had bird sounds at every hour. It wasn’t too long that Trav was making all the bird sounds himself.
So we laid Traveler to rest Friday afternoon in his little box that Dad built.

Storms began around 9 last night. We went to bed. This morning it was clear but wet.
Gauge reads almost 2 inches. Mom said: “Good, we needed it.”
When we went out for our am yard patrol, the moon hadn’t gone to bed yet. July full moon is called the Buck Moon because male deer begin to grow antlers at this time or it can be known as the Moon of Thunder as the Native Americans called it. Either way it looked pretty this morning.
Have a safe holiday weekend. Power to the Paw. ~ Indy and Lucy

On our FB page the other day, we were talking about the fruits Scotties liked. We had just tried peaches; gave them a paws up but remember any fruit should be washed and have its rinds, peeling, seeds, pits and skins removed. Grapes are a NO fruit: toxic! Anyway, Mom saw this list and thought it would be helpful. Living in small town Oklahoma we have many fruits available at farmers markets during the summer. Watermelon and cantaloupe are especially abundant. To obtain organic fruits or a variety of fruits we must drive to Tulsa, 60 miles away. Our year round go to fruit is definitely blueberries which Mom buys in a big carton at Sam’s. We share them with her and often have a teaspoon of Greek yogurt on the side, so to speak. Blueberries have high levels of resveratrol with anticancer and heart disease fighting qualities. Their tannins also help urinary tract infections. Those characteristics make them ideal for Scotties.
Apples are another that we love. They are super antioxidant and loaded with Vitamin C. There is something behind that old cliché of “An apple a day……”. We usually have some bananas in the basket too. Brother does not care for them. Mom thinks it is the texture. Excellent supply of potassium though. Strawberries containing Vitamins C,K,B, B6 and fiber can be purchased year round here. We usually have some sort of berry in the fridge because Mom likes to have a smoothie for breakfast. Cantaloupe is the super fruit of summer. A source of Vitamins A, B6 and C, it is also beneficial to eyesight, reduces cancer risk, and helps prevent cell damage. It is quite tasty too. We have tried mango and liked it but it is one for the Tulsa list. I like practically anything; Brother is more selective. Ask your Dr. Pokey if fruit would be good for you. We eat fruits as a supplement: 1/2 an apple, 4-5 blueberries, others in 1 inch servings of one to three pieces. Hey, Mom’s no doc….remember she was an English teacher…this is just what works with us. ~ Indy and Lucy

Well, you can Goggle us and find us lots of places. We began as a public page on Facebook. Our first friends were Angus Fala, Ruffles and Skyler Braveheart. We occasionally spill over to our Mom’s page (Trisha Jones) as well. The Adventures of Indy and Lucy on FB is still our primary source of communication. Yes, we do have a Twitter account ( Indy and Lucy @ trishalynn1025) and regular tweets appear because they transfer from FB or WordPress. Mom does not keep up with that account very well. She says you have to pick and choose. You can also find us on Pinterest (Trisha Jones and board name: Indy and Lucy). She pins selected pictures of us there. You are welcome to Pin them. She also has other boards devoted to Scotties, her favorite color, places she loves, the UK Royal family and many things that interest her. Oh yeah, we are on Instagram. You can locate us at INDYLUCY. It is a place for chosen pictures too. A couple of months ago, we started this blog (something Mom said she would never do) but primarily as a way to have more detailed information on record. Who knows what she might do with it. Anyway, we have met fabulous people, had great times, good laughs and would not trade it for anything. So if you are in the neighborhood, stop by. ~ Indy and Lucy
