Although it looks like I am the top dog, Sister pretty well runs this place.  Take last night, for instance.  Some time in the middle of the night, I decided I wanted to sleep in the big bed with everyone else.  I jumped on the bed and I was immediately rushed by a growling Sister.  Mom instantly alerted, scolded her and put me out of harm’s way.  She said:  “Sister, you may be top dog but you’re not going to be a bully.”  Mom has ways of getting around that little lady.  BOL. ~ Indy

Last year on his way back from Colorado, Michael stopped by our house to say hi.  This year he was traveling with his new Airstream so Mom and Dad drove to Eufaula where he had parked for the night.  I didn’t get to go.  Mom said 6 Scotties in a confined area were two too many. She said it was hot, things to be unloaded and reloaded, blah, blah, blah. She also had to bring up that I acted like Lucyfer last year and had to go to my room.  You know how pawrents over explain when they are not going to take you along.  I found out later the place even had a dog park.  They did bring me some pictures.  Here are Michael, John, Nikko, Gabby and Jolie (Peanut).  Louie is in the shadows.  He is camera shy, Mom said and she never gets him in a picture.

Gabby and Jolie are the Wheatens.

Jolie is a little Scottie.  She is nicknamed Peanut.

Nikko is a beautiful boy.

I didn’t have to see a picture to know Dad was out with another dog.  Those blondes DO have more fun. ~ Lucy

Dad is starting to replace the front section of our fence.  Weather and watering has taken a toll on the wooden one so it is being replaced with a vinyl one about a foot higher.  When the original fence was built, Mom and Dad had Sophie the Scottie who was easily maintained in the three foot Scottie stockade as they called it.  We are not diggers or climbers so a bit higher should be fine.  Besides we never go out without them watching anyway.

Here we are watching Dad dig out the corner post.  This is Day 2.  The post broke and it is buried deep in cement.  This might take awhile. Stay tuned. ~ Indy and Lucy

The dog days of summer are really not about canines at all.  It refers to the interval when Sirius, the Dog Star, rises and sets at the same time as the sun.  In the Northern hemisphere, that time coincides with the hottest part of the summer, roughly from July 3 to August 11.

As you can see, yesterday in Oklahoma, it was certainly that.

It is a period marked by inactivity, listlessness, and disinterest.  The ancient Greeks and Romans got that one right.

We have a couple of more days till the cutoff so stay cool and hydrated. Keep this in mind: ” According to folklore, if the first week of August is unusually warm, the winter will be white and long.”  Sounds good to me. ~ Lucy

Here we are doing OUR job making sure that all intruders are identified ASAP and Mom is just now getting around to writing something on our blog.  In her defense, she does have many appointments this week and is  trying to get the basement cleaned. Of course, there is always the daily watering that has to be done shortly after dawn. Being a Scottie Mom ain’t easy or so she says.  Well, she didn’t say ain’t but you know what we mean.  Temps are going to be in the 100s and very humid this week.  Stay cool where you are. ~ Indy and Lucy.

Mobile Monet is another art app that Mom likes.  The pixels are replaced with brushstrokes.  You can either pick preset or do it yourself with controls for paint, brush size, etc.  These are some of Mom’s favorites.  They were all preset. ~ Indy and Lucy

Mom says that Dog Smart is a great educational toy for ‘quality time’.

Mom hides treats under these blocks and lets me search for them by lifting them up with my mouth.  It reinforces words like wait, sit, search although I am usually good at those.  Best of all, I get one on one time with Mom or Dad.

Nina Ottosson dog puzzles can be purchased online from Amazon in many styles and difficulty levels.  It is good for dogs of all ages even young pups just learning commands.

Mom likes this plastic one where the bone slides revealing the treat.  Maybe she will get me another. ~ Indy
