Today there was an article in today’s Tulsa World about Grand PaPa and his accounts of battle in the Pacific theater during WW II.

In addition to Grand PaPa’s memories aboard the USS Colorado, the article mentions the new Navy submarine the USS Colorado. Grand Papa and Dad are leaving for Connecticut the end of this month to see it christened.

Wow, we certainly are grateful to your Grand Pa Pa for his military service to our ever great USA!!! No wonder Indy and Lucy are striking a so very proud in their Red, White, and Blue pose! They are adorable in their gorgeous Patriotic duds! You must publish a book or a calendar with the gorgeous pictures you show us of Indy and Lucy!!

My dad and all of my uncles served in WW2. One was in the Navy. I know that he served aboard a ship, but I’m not sure of its’ name.

You’re not gonna believe this, but my peep’s ancestor of that vintage also saw submarine duty in WW2. No, on a Soviet sub. He grew up in Groton, Connecticut. He served on a few Soviet subs as an officer in the US Navy and was under orders from the US Navy to do so. My peep is also a vet but got a lot wiser during that period.
