Last year Mom wrote a blog on photographing Scotties. If you didn’t see it and want to read it, put ‘photographing Scotties’ in the search; it will pop up. Mom says natural light is most important and if you are outside keep the sun behind you. Take at least 10 pictures as quick as you can and crop, crop, crop. At least one might turn out good. BOL.
This is #9…see what we mean.
Somewhat better but I am a more cooperative model. Still, she doesn’t like the dirt in bottom left and it can’t be cropped. Always consider the background.
She takes a lot of these.
She takes photos daily for our FB page and you usually see just one of us. Photographing two Scotties is difficult. She likes the singular poses because they seem more natural.
You are the photographer. Crop, keep, delete…that’s what Mom says. Get out there and take some pictures. 🙂 ~ Indy and Lucy
Still Scot
it is a challenge to take a good photo of a dog… and it is not easy to take a good photo of a black pup… butt your photos are beautiful!!! well done!

A question for the instructor – what sort of camera do you recommend?

I use my IPhone 6. If I had to use a real camera, by the time I made all the adjustments, I would have lost the shot. Samsung phones take good pics too. I’m going to upgrade when the new 7s come out in the fall.

So lovely…..but our faces never show up well in candid shots. Mom says that’s why you don’t see Scotties in movies much. But, we think it’s because we are too demanding, as we should be, yes?

Lighten them with the edit on your phone if you are using a phone.

I am curious about the type camera you use also. You take the most amazing pictures that look so natural and spontaneous! The fact that Indy & Lucy are so adorable helps too! Thanks for the refresher course. I missed it the first time.

I’m going to keep trying!! I have an Iphone6s and I swear Ella Mae knows when I grab it , it’s picture time!! Does not cooperate on purpose!!! Typical Scottie! My last Scottie, Maggie , was very photogenic and cooperative!

I have three reluctant photography subjects. They might all be in the witness protection program. I find myself doing them all separately. You just have two hams. I love them.
