Installment Seven
Our friend, Mary Lauber, organized a boat tour during Rally weekend. On Sunday, 13 humans and 3 Scotties (we were not among them) motored to Gills Rock at the tip of the peninsula to catch the launch.
Here are Australians Mark and Wendy ready to board.
On the tour they were able to view cliffs, caves, lighthouses, shipwrecks and eagles.
Great fun was had or so we heard…~ Indy and Lucy

oh I wish I would be there too… the mama has a lighthouseritis and she would live in a lighthouse (one with an elevator of course). that sounds like a pawfect place… even a little bit spooky with that wrecks, pawsome!

You can see it was close quarters so we stayed in the cottage. Mom and Dad loved it. Death’s Door is the strait linking Lake Michigan and Green Bay. It is littered with shipwrecks. It is narrow, the shoals extend far from shore, and the winds are unpredictable. Navigation is not dangerous today with modern marine electronics.

Early sailors had no advantages. Now the passage is marked and with modern devices make it less dangerous, but the winds of Lake Michigan can increase to gale forces with out warning.

What great pictures! This is truly a very special trip! We’re glad you explained about the intimidating name of “Death’s Door”. We wondered why it was named that!
Those 2 Scotties who did go on the trip looked so cute in their red life vests!

That all looks wonderful. Not fair though that you two were not ‘invited’ along. I am quite jealous the So’s were there to enjoy it. Oh dear…….maybe next time. Beautiful photos. Maybe it was because you did not have your life jackets. Who did ‘you’ look after back on shore?

Mom did not bring our jackets because she had not planned to take us and we could stay in the cottage.
