Installment Four….

DCSR

For sixteen years, the Door County Scottie Rally has been ‘educating the public and owners regarding issues which impact the health and welfare of Scottish terriers, providing financial support for Scottish terrier health related research and rescue, and promoting fellowship among those passionate about the breed.’  The rally is held every 3rd weekend in May in Baileys Harbor ,Wisconsin.  At last count, 150 terriers from 15 states and Australia attended the event this year.  Two of them were us.

The rally opens at three on Friday and setting up is the first order of business.  We like Dad to sit in the enclosure with us.  Initially, the noise and confusion of so many Scotties and their owners coming together is a bit overwhelming.

Memorial Stone Workshop DCSR

Workshops, anyone?  The memory stone workshop taught by Melis Lambrecht was fabulous this year.  Jody Hergert-Andresen from Pawsitive Directions holds  invaluable consultations for both days.

Silent and live  auction items were available for viewing.

It is always exciting to see old friends and make new.

The Rainbow Bridge dedication was held Friday night.  It’s a calm place for reflective thought or perhaps to leave a remembrance.

Some of us just need a massage or the rally offers ultrasounds at an affordable price too.  Both of ours were good with no evidence of TCC or anything else.

Concluding the event, were the Speedy Scottie trials and I ( Indy) was foiled again.  Right before my run, a fellow Scottie left me some peemail and I stopped to open it and therefore shot my timing. Maybe it was some diabolical plot. However, Sister surprisingly went down the course this year.  Dad lured her across the finish.
