Mom was telling us a story yesterday about Valentine Days of yore. When she was in school, the teacher would have them decorate a shoe box. Everyone would put valentines in them and on the final day the children would have a party and open the boxes. She said it was so much fun. Have a look at all these vintage valentines; these might have been what she found when she opened her box. She’s vintage; you know. ♥ ~ Lucy

Being vintage also, my peep said this was a lovely trip down memory lane for her. She told me she enjoyed receiving the same kind of sweet Valentine’s cards when they had a special ‘mailbox’ in the classroom when she was young. 💌
She wonders if this tradition is even allowed anymore since it may not be considered ‘politically correct’ anymore. I don’t know what that even means, but my peep said society and its values have changed so much, and not always for better.
Sigh!😡

I love the idea with the shoe box… and to read some lines written by a friend is much better than flowers or chocolates… :o)

Peeps in the old days must have been smarter than they are today. There’s at least one Scottie on every one of them.

Mom had the decorated shoe box valentine party at her school too. She can’t remember ever getting a Scottie one though. They even had candy and cookies and maybe a cupcake….didn’t have those cutie Scottie papers in those days. She knows a fifth grade school teacher that took cupcakes to her students this year in those papers. Times change but thanks so much for showing what “real” valentines look like. 🙂

I remember decorating a shoe box for Valentine’s Day when I was in the 3rd grade. I loved my teacher, Mrs. Donahoe, she was a wonderful teacher and brought each student a homemade cookie with their name on it. The Valentines you posted look like some I would have received❣❤️❣

You is so creative and colorful, AND Adorbs and you’re always making us happy by showing us something real pretty dat your Mum creates with Scottie themed things! Also she lets us in on your antics and shows some awesome pictures of you both! (We loves your pictures and all of your wardrobe, specially Lucy in her cute Tu-Tus!) Our Mum always is happy to get your posts, too, eben when it causes her to “get the vapors” and swoon and “die of cute”, cuz she gets all of our licks and kisses to bring her “back out of her fainting spell”, and she loves that too, of course! And she gives us a big hug and gives us tons of kisses, too, after your posts. Guess she gets all lovey-dovey after looking at you two, and your posts! It’s ALL good! So we get lots from your posts! Thank you so much! Happy Valentine’s Day!

I love the vintage cards. I don’t remember any Valentine activity in grade school. Something else that we missed in our education in NYC.
