There are many well-known dog breeds but the Scottie is instantly recognizable except to the misinformed who occasionally confuse us with a schnauzer. Our iconic shape is on quilts, purses, jewelry, and dishware to name only a few. Really, what kid wanted to be the shoe in a Monopoly game?
Presidents found Scotties an ideal dog; Barney Bush displays our quirky temperament here.. FDR’s Fala had his own editorial cartoon series entitled “Mr. Fala of the White House”.
Movie stars loved Scotties.
Bette Davis, Shirley Temple, Ali McGraw and Humphrey Bogart were all Scottie fans.
Rue McClanahan of the ‘Golden Girls’ had a Scottie named Harrod.
This beautiful lady was famous in her own right. R.I.P. Sadie

Some Scottie people don’t like remembering, but Eva Braun and Adolph Hitler had Scotties and loved them – though for political reasons, Hitler had his German Shepherds photographed far more. Scottie Terrier and Dog News, which I think doesn’t post anymore, but it was great – and it was one of the first Scottie blogs out there on the internet, drew our attention to that little known fact. The blogger took a lot of heat for that from many people – but we here at the Ainsley Institute don’t believe that history, no matter how inconvenient, should be swept under the rug or obliterated just because it isn’t politically correct anymore.

Obviously Hitler, and I guess Eva Braun, though I know little about her except her bad taste in boyfriends, were very evil people. Obviously. But I found it interesting they were very fond of their Scotties. I never heard of what became of their Scotties.

Mom used to read Scottish Terrier News. She has seen the Scotties several times in news clips on the history channel. Usually they are photographed with Eva at the mountain retreat, Berghof. Mom read where they did survive the collapse of Germany but doesn’t know what happened to them. We could not agree more with you more on politically incorrect history.

President Eisenhower had two Scotties, Telek and Caacie. His Secretary have him one of them during WWII and he went with Ike on occasion. I have seen photos of him in his jeep with one of the Scotties. Eva Braun had two Scotties, one named Burli. Mom can post a photo on your FB page. (we don’t know if it is proper to post it here or if she even knows how) Jacki Kennedy had a Scottie when she was a little girl. On the political correct issue, Mom is sick and tired of PC…….people are changing history to what they want it to be, not what it really is….woof over.
